APD asking for public’s help to find Assault suspect

The Aberdeen Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding an assault suspect.

The Aberdeen Police Department tells KXRO that on Tuesday at about 8:00am there was a report of an assault with a knife in the 1100 block of West Street.

According to police the 34 year old woman who was assaulted said that she was walking to the alley driveway behind their house with her niece to give her a ride to school when a man grabbed her in a bear hug.

The suspect had a knife with a 4 to 6 inch blade in his hand.

The woman and her niece screamed and the woman hit the suspect with her lunch that she was carrying.

The suspect then released her and she ran back into her house with her niece.

The woman described the suspect as: a white man, 5′-10″ to 6′ tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and blue jeans, about 25 years of age with a beard.

The Aberdeen Police Department is asking for any help in identifying this suspect.
