Accident at Schouweiler and 12 sent 3 to Summit Pacific

An accident on Thanksgiving saw 3 people sent to the hospital in East County.

The reports that Thursday, just before noon, the accident occurred on at Schouweiler Rd and Highway 12.

According to the report, an 81 year old Shelton man driving a 1990 Chevrolet K30 pulled off of Schouweiler, turning east onto Highway 12.

A 2011 Mercury Milan driven by a 22 year old woman was driving west in the right hand lane when the truck pulled out in front of them.

gore-area-graphicThe car struck the truck, sending it into the gore point. The car came to rest in the median. Both vehicles were totaled on scene.

The 81 year and 22 year old drivers, as well as a 29 year old Tumwater man in the car, were all sent to Summit Pacific Medical Center. A 1 month old child also inside the car was not injured. Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.

The 81 year old was cited for Failure to Use Right of Way.
