A flurry of complaints concerning code interpretation and decisions by the Grays Harbor County Building Department has led to the department putting itself under review. Public Services Director Paul Easter says after meeting with Building and Planning Director Brian Shea and members of his staff, he feels nothing can be lost by having the department examined by an outside entity. As a result, the County Commissioners have agreed to enter into discussions with the International Code Council about possible audits of the department, speaking with current and past applicants and offering suggestions to the board on possible improvements. The scope of the review and the cost to the county will be determined by the Board of Commissioners. |
