You can't say this very often, but this weekend an owl will be celebrated in Grays Harbor. The Benny Bufano bronze owl sculpture at the Aberdeen Timberland Library is celebrating it's 40th birthday and a small party will take place tomorrow. Unveiled by Bufano himself in July of 1968, the owl sits just inside the Market Street entrance to the library, a fitting symbol of the knowledge within. Library spokeswoman Leanne Ingle says the celebrations will start at 11 AM on Saturday with owl cookies and crafts and tribute performances by Westport poet and musician Virgil Stortroen. |
