KESSLER SLAMS STERN AND NBA OVER SONICS MOVE
By Ian Cope :: 338 Views ::

House Majority Leader Lynn Kessler of Hoquiam came down hard on NBA Commissioner David Stern today following the announcement that the Sonics would be leaving Seattle.  Speaking on KWOK Radio in Aberdeen this morning, Kessler says that the state has not been treated well by the league and Stern who she says, "went out of his way to make it almost impossible for (the state) to keep the Sonics and let Clay Bennett take the team to Oklahoma".  The Hoquiam Democrat accused the league of holding the state hostage and likened the situation to "kidnapping and ransom".   Kessler says the league should have promised an expansion team before they demand $300-million in renovations to the Key Arena as part of the settlement agreement.
