COST OF ABERDEEN SCHOOL MEALS ON THE RISE
By Ian Cope :: 330 Views ::

As expected, the Aberdeen School District will be increasing the cost of student meals.  Business Director Tom Laufmann says increasing food costs are making the 25-cent increase necessary and negating the high number of students using the district lunch system.  For example: Elementary lunches will now be $2.00, secondary lunches $2.25 and breakfasts will also increase now costing $1.35 and $1.60.  That should earn the district an additional $40-thousand per year, but Laufmann says that may fall well short of pulling the food service program back into the black.  The increases will go into effect starting with the 2008-2009 school year.
