TWO APRIL CLAM DIGS SCHEDULED

A pair of razor clam openings are in the works for April. The Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced that on April 6th-8th, Long Beach and Twin Harbors will open on the AM tides with Twin Harbor remaining open on the morning tides of April 9th. The second dig would have Long Beach, Twin Harbors, Copalis and Mocrocks opening on April 19th and 20th. Twin Harbors will remain open on April 21st-23rd (also on AM tides). Marine toxin tests will be carried out early next month to confirm the openings. This is the first dig in which a 2008-2009 license will be required.

Chris Styner of Humptulips outlasted 9 other contestants to win abrand new Honda at Aberdeen Honda on Sunday. The contestants had to keep their hands on the car as long as possible. The contest started at 5pm on Friday and concluded with Chris being the champ on Sunday at 10:00am.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved a razor clam dig for Twin Harbors and Long Beach from March 7-12. The dig will involve both AM and PM digging. As alway diggers are limited to the first 15 clams regardless of size or condition.

Hoquiam Receives 520 Pontoon Project

Governor Chris Gregoire has announced that Hoquiam and Tacoma will share the pontoon construction sites for the 520 floating bridge replacement project. In a statement released today, the governor says the timeline for the Lake Washington bridge construction is too long and that the project will be accelerated by four years.
