Crime numbers in the City of Hoquiam were on the rise in 2009. In the annual police report released this week, Chief Jeff Myers says the calls for service in Hoquiam were up from 415 in 2008 to 500 in 2009. Specifically, Myers pointed to burglaries increased from 71 to 111 while robberies jumped from three to 11 along with one homicide. Myers says the robberies and homicide were often linked to drug buys gone bad. However, the crime totals were still well below the 677 that occurred in 2005 and the 517 in 2006.
